A Little Home Design Inspiration

This weekend my husband and I took a little roadtrip and went to the Spring Parade of Homes in Kansas City, MO.  This is a bi-annual event in KC and it is the third year we have gone together.  The Parade of Homes is sponsored every year by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City and many of the local builders enter their homes.

Hundreds of homes are entered and you can tour them all for free.  Many of the homes are furnished as well… as a way for local designers to showcase their skills.  Since my husband is a realtor and because we just love to dream, we really enjoy touring these homes.  We may never be able to have a home quite as grand as some of these  (prices range up to $1,800,000!), but I love getting inspiration from these designs for my own home.  Here are a few of my favorite design elements that I saw this weekend…

I love the clean feel of this white bathroom, and the tile and fixtures were beautiful!

The elegant feel of this lilac wallpaper was beautiful, and the lovely bannister and kitchen island fixture were stunning.

This fireplace was visible from both the inside and the outside of the home! I also liked this mirror and the finish on these dresser doors.

These built in shelves were a perfect accent for a study, and I loved the bling of this kitchen tile and fun vases!

The faux finish of this alcove was so rich looking and this was my favorite kitchen of the day!

This bedroom was an inspiration for my own... when I redecorate I would love something fresh like this with my own accents. The color is gray... not as green in person. :)

Before the end of the day we had to pose for a couple of fun pictures in the homes… of course we did this when we were alone!

I have been to the parade of homes in Kansas City as well as Columbia MO. It is a great place to dream and gather inspiration. I found several ideas as we were building our home. I highly recommend attending one in your area if you need remodel or building ideas.
