Weekly Roundup – Biking & Burt’s Bees

Happy Friday everyone!  I can’t believe a new weekend is upon us!  This week was a quiet one, but we still had our typical round of mishaps and adventures.

We started the week celebrating Father’s Day and our niece’s birthday.  All the get-togethers keep us hopping, but we love spending time with our families!

Happy Father’s Day to the best!

A month or so ago, Nathan and I decided to start biking again.  There is a great bike trail near us, and we decided it was a fun way to get moving!  Along with bike riding came my first bike crash.  Fortunately, I walked away with nothing more than a bizarre rash caused by some strange bush I fell in to.  Nothing damaged but my pride… but that fact that my husband seemed to find it hilarious (now that he knows I’m not hurt, of course) isn’t helping matters any.

Last week I began a new series on My Favorite Blogs!  This week was the second installment, and the series will run every Wednesday until I run out of suggestions! 🙂  You can check out the first two posts in the series HERE and HERE.  I also shared some great tips for How To Do Your Own Bridal Makeup… you can check that out HERE!

I am LOVING the new Burt’s Bees lipsticks… so creamy and comfortable!  You can expect a full review coming soon.  Don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss it!

I hit up Hobby Lobby this week (possibly one of my favorite stores), and found the 80% off clearance isle!  This was quite dangerous, but I exercised impressive restraint and only came home with six things… all for only $30 I might add!

Weekly Roundup – A New Handbag & A Flood!

Hello there!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead!  We have absolutely no plans this weekend, so I will get to spend it relaxing and cleaning my house.  I can’t ask for much more than that!

Here’s what else we’ve been up to this week…

We began our week on a not so great note when our water softener sprang a leak and completely FLOODED our utility room!  I have no picture to document this, as I think my husband may have had a meltdown if I had stopped sopping up water to take pictures.  But I thought about it… cause that’s how my mind works ya know? 🙂

I also started whitening my teeth this week.  In the past I had always used strips, but I finally bit the bullet and had a custom tray made.  It’s definitely a lot easier (the strips always slid around), but the more potent solution is making my teeth SO sensitive!  I am determined to stick with it, but it even hurts to breathe!  Have any of you whitened with a tray?  Please tell me this gets better?!

Our garden is growing every day!  The tomatoes are getting leggy and will need to be staked soon, and my jalapenos already have a few baby peppers!  I just trimmed back my knockout roses, and am waiting for the next round of blooms.

I went on a girl’s night with my mom this week, and we saw a live performance of The Music Man at a local community theater.  We both love musicals and we had a blast!  We shot these pictures before we went… I am loving carrying my new bag!  I husband bought me this beautiful Coach bag as a gift.  I love the color, and it is SO roomy.  It holds my planner, notebook, tablet, phone, wallet, makeup and keys and still has tons of room!

I am constantly fighting the battle of organization, although I have definitely made some progress this week!  We have a small home, and will have to move or build sometime soon.  In the meantime, it’s a struggle to find places to put everything… I have things stored under the bed and in every possible crevice, and there are only so many things I can bring myself to get rid of.  I need storage!!!  Any tips to share for organizing small spaces?

What have you been doing this week?  Please comment… I would love to know!

High Five for Friday – Ready for a Busy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone!   I am excited to join up with the High Five for Friday ladies again!  It’s been a while, but it is always fun to review my week and see what these fabulous ladies have been up to.  Be sure to check out their blogs by clicking the logo below!  Here’s what I’ve been up to lately…

I have a short day today and am ready for a fun weekend!  The hubby and I are road tripping to the Parade of Homes in Kansas City.  This showcase allows you to tour hundreds of new homes by area builders and many are furnished as well.  I love to see the latest in design and take some inspiration for our own home!  You can read about last year’s Parade of Homes here.

POH Jill

When no one else is touring the home with you… you pose in the bathtub, of course!

We have just finished our second flip house.  These houses are a ton of work, but we are definitely proud of the outcome.  Working on these homes makes me feel a bit like Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper, even though I know this is far from the truth!  🙂

This week I shared some of my favorite polished for spring and summer… it makes me feel so fresh to have bright colors on my fingers and toes.  Check out that post here.

I am ready to begin gardening!  Working on this flip house has kept me from starting as early as I would have liked, but next week I plan on jumping in and planting my flowers and herbs and veggies!  I have two beautiful hanging baskets up already!

Pardon the hose in this picture, I guess I forgot to tidy up!

If you are still looking for a spring DIY, check out this tulip wreath I made for my front door!  I am not a crafty person as a general rule, and I was so proud of how this turned out!  You can read about how I made it here.

I hope you all enjoyed this quick recap of my week and be sure to check out some of these great girls participating in High Five for Friday!  See you Monday with a new post!

High Five For Friday – Hello Again!

H54F Header 9-18-15Hello everyone and Happy Friday!  Long time no blog post!  Don’t worry, I haven’t given up on this space, I have simply been trying to keep up with the rest of life these days.  So this H54F will be not just updates from the last week, but recent updates to bring you up to date.  Hopefully this will be the beginning of more regular posting!

1. The biggest and most time consuming task I have been facing is the fact I have a new job!  As you know, I work full time and blog on the side. I am still working in the financial industry, but I have moved to a new company and I am loving it!!!  The process of leaving my old job was a struggle and not as pleasant as I hoped it would be, but it has all been made up for since I am so much happier in my new place.  The position itself and the hours are better, and the atmosphere and my co-workers are great.  However, adjusting to any new job is a time consuming task and I am happy to be finally settling in.

2. On a fun fashion note, my sweet hubby bought me present to celebrate my new job.  Not only did he take me shopping for some new work clothes, but he spoiled me to pieces with this amazing Coach bag!  The leather is beautiful, the size is perfect for me, and I have loved the color for summer and plan on carrying it into fall.  If you are interested, you can find similar bags here.

3. Nate and I have finally completed our flip house and we are so proud of how it turned out!  We spent every spare moment there that we were not at work, and while I have loved the process, I am ready to be done.  I cannot wait to share with you all the pictures of this exciting transformation!

4. Remember that tiny little garden I shared pictures of earlier in the spring?  It grew and we harvested a few of our own veggies!  The garlic was pretty much a failure, but we had some onions and the best jalapeno plants you have ever seen. I had a hard time staying a step ahead of the weeds,  but I am so happy with how our little space turned out!

5. I have gotten to try some fun new beauty items recently! Some of these I plan on reviewing in more detail, but a few of my favorites have been: First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads, Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Cream and Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster.

Beauty Trio

6. We are adding a bonus item today… because I MUST mention how excited I am to begin decorating for fall!!! I have a few things out already and am on the hunt for a perfect fall wreath. Dare I try to make my own?! My poor hubby has a sensitive nose and so I cannot burn some of my favorite fall candles (bye, bye Bath & Body Works Leaves, she says with a sniffle), but I have a few that are husband approved and they are burning non-stop!

Fall is in the Air

I hope your week was wonderful… it feels so good to post again!  Stay tuned for some more beauty posts and another installment of Oregon Honeymoon Diaries.  See you soon!
