Review of Tarte’s Best in Faux Lash Fibers

I have been hearing a lot lately about lash fibers, and they seem to be becoming a popular trend. I have been curious to try them because I am not really a false lash girl.  I love the look of full, long lashes, but on me false lashes always pop off at the outer edges and drive me nuts!

I have heard several brands of lash fibers recommended, including Younique and Cherry Blooms, but since these were both more expensive and harder to find I choose to go with Best in Faux from Tarte.

To use lash fibers, you apply them with the wand over a layer of mascara while the mascara is still wet. You then go over the fibers with another layer of mascara to seal the fibers in place.  Repeat this as many times as necessary until you get the effect you like.

Tarte intends these fibers to be used with their Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara (and a sample of this mascara as included with my fibers), however I like the fibers even better with my faithful Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara.

I was so pleased with the results!  The overall effect added fullness and length, and it really amped up my lashes to give them a beautiful fan-like effect.  The pictures below really show the difference!

One of my biggest concerns about trying lash fibers was that the fibers would fall into my eyes and cause irritation since I am a contact lens wearer. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that this was not the case!  I did not notice any of the fibers falling off throughout the day, and while a couple fell in my eye as I was applying the fibers, they were so fine and soft that I could blink them away with no irritation.

I give these lash fibers a big thumbs up!  For me, they are so much better than false lashes because they feel no different than regular mascara and I don’t have to worry about them coming off.  While I may not use them on a daily basis, I will definitely be pulling these out for those days when I want to make that little bit of extra effort.  I am now curious to try other brands and see how they compare!

What are your thoughts on lash fibers?  Have you tried any?

  1. I’ve never tried lash fibers either but I’m so intrigued by them. What are they like to remove? Anymore difficult than regular old mascara?

    • They are very easy to remove! I use waterproof mascara so mine is always a little tough to get off, but I haven’t noticed that the fibers have made any difference. They don’t irritate when you remove them either. Have a great week! 🙂

  3. Where can this product found? I did buy a similar product from a lady in town. It was ok, but rather expensive. What price point is the Tarte Product?

    • I bought mine at Sephora and you can also get them at Ulta. They are $20.00, and they seem like they will last a long time but I am still at the beginning of the tube so I can’t say for sure. I think they also have a double ended version, with the fibers on one end and the mascara on the other for the same price.
