Think Outside The Vase

I love to have flowers in my home. I think they contribute such a feeling of life and movement.  As often as possible I try to bring in fresh blooms from my garden, but when I can’t, I have a stash of artificial flowers to place around my rooms.

I have a collection of glass and crystal vases that I have always used to display flowers. Some of them I still love… this Mikasa vase is a favorite… but I have decided it is time to think outside the vase when it comes to showcasing these beautiful blooms.

After searching my home for items I could use, I was so surprised with how many choices I found!  And when using faux flowers, my options were endless since no water was needed.

This large, glass container is an antique Planter’s Peanut jar that belonged to my husband’s grandmother!  Instead of letting it sit unused, I decided to use it as a vase and added these faux lavender flowers.  I surrounded it with these rustic saucers and bowls to give some dimension to the arrangement.

A pretty teapot makes a wonderful vase!  I love white accessories… white is fresh and clean, plus it’s an excellent way to show off other colors.

Sometimes, incorporating unusual greenery is fresh and fun.  Here I used a traditional vase, but mixed things up with a bouquet of hosta leaves!  Trimming my hosta bushes helps them grow and these vibrant, green leaves stay fresh for weeks.

Don’t forget about a good old mason jar for a cute and convenient vase.

A clear pitcher can be a great way to display tall flowers, and I can’t wait for my gladiolas to bloom so that I can display them in a pitcher with lemon slices in the water!

It was fun to search through my home to find inventive ways to decorate using things I already owned!  If you think outside the vase, tag me on Instagram (@jilliandanielleblog)… I would love to see your ideas!

Thank you! It was a wedding gift, and I love having a great way to display it. I hate having pretty things sit in a cabinet!
